History
Ecobat's history is deeply rooted in the metallurgical industry, with some of its smelters dating back to the 14th century. The Ecobat name itself first appeared in 1938 in Italy, with the founding of ECOBAT S.R.L. Paderno. Over the centuries, various facilities that now form part of Ecobat were established, including Muldenhutten Recycling and Umwelttechnik GmbH (now Ecobat Resources Freiberg) in the 14th century, BSB Recycling GmbH (Ecobat Resources Braubach) in the 17th century, Berzelius Stolberg (now Ecobat Resources Stolberg) in 1848, and the NOCO Company in 1914. The BLM site (Ecobat Resources UK) started production in 1932, and Castle Lead Workers Leaders (now Ecobat Resources Krugersdorp) began manufacturing lead products in 1933. Through strategic acquisitions and organic growth, Ecobat has built a global network of 28 companies. In the late 20th century, Eco-Bat Technologies Ltd was formed as a multinational, owned by the American company Quexco. By 2011, it was recognized as the world's leading producer of recycled lead and the first group to operate a closed-loop recycling system for lead-acid batteries. The company has continued to expand into lithium battery recycling, developing advanced technologies for resource recovery.
