Overview
Eco Green Co., Ltd. (株式会社エコグリーン) is a Japanese company that operates as the core of the Eco Green Group, a professional group promoting renewable-energy and recycling businesses aimed at preventing global warming. The company was founded in May 1997 in Edogawa, Tokyo, originally for the purpose of transporting timber. Over the following years it relocated its head office several times within Tokyo — to Chiyoda (1999), Sumida (2001) and Chuo (2003) — before expanding into wood-biomass recycling infrastructure. The group's principal business is the wood-biomass recycling business (木質バイオマス再資源化事業). Eco Green collects waste wood, manufactures and processes wood chips, and handles their transport, storage and sale. It also provides consulting on circular business, proposing optimal treatment methods for industrial waste such as rubble and textile waste through a network of recycling plants and treatment facilities. A third pillar is forest regeneration (森林再生事業), through which the group pursues responsible forest management and coexistence of rich, safe forests with local communities. Eco Green Group operates through several subsidiaries, including EGL (formerly Bio Innovation), EG Forest, EG Hachioji, Tokan Recycle and EG Kashiwa. Facilities include the Makabe stockyard in Ibaraki (2004), a wood-biomass recycling facility in Yachimata, Chiba (2006), the Chiba office in Yachimata City (2009), a wood-biomass recycling facility in Hachioji, Tokyo (2017), the EGL Sagamihara transshipment and storage facility (2018), the EG Kamisu yard in Ibaraki (2019), the EGL Yashio transshipment and storage facility (2022), a wood-biomass recycling facility in Kashiwa, Chiba (2022) and the Kashiwa truck center in Noda, Chiba (2022). The company was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange TOKYO PRO Market in October 2013. In September 2015, EG Investment Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan Renewable Energy Corporation, acquired all shares held by shareholders other than president Mitsunobu Ishii through a tender offer, and became the parent company through a third-party allotment. The TOKYO PRO Market listing was discontinued on 8 October 2015. In June 2016, Eco Green Holdings Co., Ltd. was established. The group also engages in community contribution and sponsorship activities, including serving as an official sponsor of the American football team Nojima Sagamihara Rise.
