École des Parents et des Éducateurs du Calvados

The École des Parents et des Éducateurs du Calvados (EPE 14) is a French association loi 1901 created in 1977. It carries out a social utility project in the field of parenting, working with families in all their diversity, and also conducts support, training, and professionalization actions, notably for early childhood and education actors. Its main sites are located in Bayeux, Caen, Falaise, Hérouville-Saint-Clair, and Saint-Lô.

The first École des Parents et des Éducateurs in France was created in 1929. In 1949 the Revue « L’école des Parents » was created, and in 1970 the Fédération Nationale des EPE (FNEPE) was created. The École des Parents et des Éducateurs du Calvados was created in 1977. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, it provided reception and listening for parents, conferences, and youth orientation. In the late 1980s, it began actions against illiteracy and language training for allophone persons, and created a family mediation service. From 1992 to 1995, it conducted first skills assessments, actions to support immigrant families, and developed continuing education. From 1995, it began individual support for RSA beneficiaries. In the late 1990s, it opened the LAEP La Souris Verte, the Espace Parents d’Hérouville-Saint-Clair, and the PAEJ de Falaise. In 2007, it held its first Atelier Sociolinguistique (Ifs). In 2009, it began collective actions for the development of psychosocial skills. In 2016, it began prevention actions on the phenomenon of radicalization. In 2018, it began support for beneficiaries of international protection. In 2019, it created the Union Régionale des EPE Normandes (UREPE). In 2022, it began training actions for displaced families from Ukraine and deployed a new visual identity. In 2023, it began actions against illectronism for parents, held first ©Cafés des Parents d’Ici et d’ailleurs, opened the Maison de la Parentalité et de la Formation in Bayeux, and put its new website online.
