Overview
Eden Press is an American publisher based in Fountain Valley, California. According to its official About page, it began with the October 1971 publication of The Paper Trip, a 28-page booklet prepared by Barry Reid at the urging of friends at the Los Angeles Free Press. The booklet was advertised in underground newspapers and sold hundreds of copies by mail, later becoming The Paper Trip I and leading to three additional books. The company's website presents books and reports on topics such as new identity, personal privacy, credit and debt, careers, and starting a business.
History
According to the official About page, Eden Press began as a reaction to the Vietnam War. By the late Sixties, thousands of soldiers were returning home addicted, disabled, and dead, and some potential draftees were leaving the US for Canada. Friends at the Los Angeles Free Press urged Barry Reid to prepare a how-to manual, resulting in The Paper Trip, a 28-page booklet published in October 1971, which marked the beginning of Eden Press. Reid advertised in dozens of underground newspapers, offering The Paper Trip for $5.00 by mail; the booklet sold hundreds of copies and became an underground classic, finding its way into jails and prisons. It laid the cornerstone for Eden Press and became The Paper Trip I, followed by The Paper Trip II, The Paper Trip III, and The Paper Trip 4.
