Overview
Elbe-Elster-Fernsehen (EEF) is a private local information television broadcaster based in Elsterwerda, in the Elbe-Elster district of Brandenburg, Germany. The station's programming is produced by ETV – Medienservice und Vertriebs GmbH, whose studio and editorial offices are also located in Elsterwerda. EEF focuses on regional reporting from its transmission area, with its main programme being the 30-minute "Elbe-Elster Journal", broadcast three times a week in a programme window on the satellite channel BB-MV-LokalTV. Additional formats include the youth magazine "BubbleGumTV", a screen newspaper with event tips and classified ads, and irregular thematic magazine shows. The station also carries the "Mittelsachsen-Journal" from Riesa TV. The station began as a local cable project. A licence was applied for at the Medienanstalt Berlin-Brandenburg (MABB) under the provisional name "Stadtfernsehen Elsterwerda", and preparations continued under the name "Elster TV – Lokalfernsehen Elsterwerda". The programme went on air in September 1996 as ElsterTV with weekly programme loops. The transmission area was later extended to the former Bad Liebenwerda district, and several cable head-end stations were supplied weekly with contributions repeated in an endless loop on SVHS videocassettes. In 1999 the first youth programme, "Knaartz TV", was created, regularly produced by the indie-pop band Virginia Jetzt!, whose first music video was made here. In 2000 the current operating GmbH was founded. From around 2004, service and entertainment formats were increasingly introduced, some in cooperation with other regional television stations. Since 2006, individual contributions have been available as video on demand on the station's website. From October 2009 to spring 2011, the station produced its first daily news programme, "Rundschau-Nachrichten", as a joint production with the Lausitzer Rundschau. The station was renamed to its current name on 4 December 2009, in connection with the expansion of its transmission area to almost the entire district. In May 2013, following the closure of CityTV, the station further expanded into the cable networks of Herzberg and Schönewalde. In September 2013, it received a channel slot on the joint satellite platform BB-MV-LokalTV of the media authorities of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Berlin-Brandenburg. At the turn of 2020/21, the station was taken over by Lausitzwelle, initially retaining its name and regional programming. The programme was available in the Elbe-Elster district on local cable networks, and via satellite on Brandenburg lokal-TV (Tuesdays 17:30, Thursdays 21:00 and Saturdays 19:30). On the internet, the station is available via its website or HbbTV as a livestream and with a media library.
