Overview

Elengy is a French company specialising in the reception, regasification, storage and loading of liquefied natural gas (LNG). With more than 60 years of experience in the LNG sector, it designs, develops and operates three regulated LNG terminals in France: Montoir-de-Bretagne on the Atlantic coast, and Fos Tonkin and Fos Cavaou on the Mediterranean coast. These terminals serve all players wishing to import LNG to supply the interconnected French and European markets. As gateways for LNG into Europe, the three sites offer the market optimal flexibility for unloading or loading any type of LNG carrier, transshipment between LNG carriers, loading of LNG tanker trucks, and regasification of LNG for injection into the transmission network. Elengy presents LNG as an available and immediate decarbonisation lever, an effective substitute for coal and petroleum products, thereby contributing to the energy transition of energy suppliers and the entire transport sector. Elengy is also evolving its services by investing in the development of bio-LNG, hydrogen and CCUS value chains to reduce the environmental footprint of various players and prepare the transition to a carbon-neutral offering by 2050. Its service range includes unloading and regasification of cargo, reloading, transshipment, and tanker truck loading. A historic player in LNG reception and regasification, Elengy has received nearly 10,000 cargoes and welcomed more than 300 different LNG carriers, representing about half of the world fleet, at its terminals. In 2022, the debottlenecking of the Fos Cavaou terminal brought its capacity to 10 billion cubic metres per year, raising the total capacity of Elengy's three terminals to 21.5 Gm3/year. In the first quarter of 2022, 30% of gas imported into France came from Elengy's three LNG terminals. The company continues to position itself as a pioneer of the LNG sector while accelerating its transformation towards decarbonisation hubs.

History

Elengy has been an expert in liquefied natural gas (LNG) for more than 60 years. It owns and operates three LNG terminals in France: Montoir-de-Bretagne near Saint-Nazaire on the Atlantic coast, and Fos Tonkin and Fos Cavaou on the Mediterranean coast. Since 1965, Elengy has received more than half of the world's LNG carrier fleet at its terminals. In December 2021, the Gas Vitality successfully carried out its first loading operation at the Fos Cavaou LNG terminal, inaugurating the new micro-LNG carrier loading service for ship refuelling. In January 2022, Elengy welcomed the 300th different type of LNG carrier at its terminals. In February 2022, Elengy completed the 50,000th tanker truck loading across the three terminals since the activity began in 2013. In the first quarter of 2022, 30% of gas imported into France came from Elengy's three LNG terminals. On 1 May 2022, the debottlenecking of the Fos Cavaou terminal became effective, bringing the terminal's capacity to 10 billion cubic metres per year. With this debottlenecking operation, the total capacity of Elengy's three terminals reached 21.5 Gm3/year. The company continues to develop its services, investing in bio-LNG, hydrogen and CCUS value chains to prepare for a carbon-neutral offering by 2050.
