eMap AS

eMap AS is a Norwegian mapmaking company established in 1988. It is based at Moholt in Trondheim, where it operates from premises at Vegamot 4B. The company specialises in producing and selling maps for outdoor recreation, hiking and orienteering, and it also runs related retail activities through its Finekart web shop and the Offtrack orienteering equipment shop. eMap's product range includes hiking maps (turkart), cabin maps (hyttekart) and orienteering maps (turtavler). A notable recent output is the anniversary map for the Wing Orienteringsklubb orienteering club, covering Strindamarka at a scale of 1:20,000, with a corresponding map for Bymarka. These maps show trails, names, symbols and the most-used ski trails in winter, and include descriptive text about places in the forest. They are sold through eMap's own online store, through selected ARK and Norli bookshops, and through Offtrack. Through its Finekart online shop, eMap sells its own and third-party maps, and it has expanded its catalogue to include motoring and tourist maps for several countries via the Calazo publishing house. The company also maintains a physical shop at Moholt in Trondheim, where it offers orienteering equipment such as compasses, shoes and head torches alongside its maps. eMap communicates with customers through social media, announcing new map releases and product updates. The company remains a private, independent Norwegian business focused on cartography and outdoor recreation retail.

eMap AS was founded in 1988 as a Norwegian mapmaking company. It established itself in Trondheim, later operating from premises at Moholt, where it combines map production with a physical retail shop. The company built its business around outdoor recreation cartography, producing hiking maps (turkart), cabin maps (hyttekart) and orienteering maps (turtavler). It also developed an online sales channel, the Finekart web shop, through which it sells its own maps and maps from other publishers. A significant recent project was the production of the anniversary map for the Wing Orienteringsklubb orienteering club. This map covers Strindamarka at a scale of 1:20,000 and includes trails, names, symbols and the most-used ski trails in winter, with descriptive text about places in the forest on the reverse. A corresponding map was produced for Bymarka. These maps are sold through eMap's own online store, through selected ARK and Norli bookshops, and through Offtrack. Alongside map publishing, eMap operates the Offtrack orienteering equipment shop, which sells orienteering shoes, compasses, head torches and other orienteering gear. The company also expanded its Finekart catalogue through the Calazo publishing house to include motoring and tourist maps for several countries, including six for Norway. eMap maintains a physical presence at Vegamot 4B on Moholt in Trondheim, where customers can visit the shop. The company uses social media to announce new products and updates, and it remains an active, independent Norwegian cartographic business.
