History

The company was founded in 1993 as NOB Deutschland GmbH, a German subsidiary of the Dutch media service provider NOB (Nederlands Omroepproduktie Bedrijf) based in Hilversum. It was chosen as the production base for the first three seasons of the German Big Brother series. In 2004, NOB Deutschland GmbH was acquired by the Dutch company United Broadcast Facilities (UBF). In 2007, the company was renamed NOB Studios GmbH, and later that same year it became nobeo GmbH. Also in 2007, UBF merged with French Euro Media Télévision to form the Euro Media Group, headquartered in Bry-sur-Marne near Paris. The Euro Media Group described itself as the largest provider of TV production facilities in Europe, employing 1,400 permanent staff across Germany, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Switzerland in 2008, with annual revenue of 313 million euros. On 1 October 2021, nobeo GmbH was rebranded as EMG Germany GmbH, aligning with the Euro Media Group's EMG brand. In July 2025, the German company began operating under the Gravity Media Germany brand as part of a wider group rebranding, although the legal company name remained unchanged for the time being. Throughout its history, the company has provided studio, outside broadcast and post-production services for numerous high-profile German television productions.
