Overview
ENRW Energieversorgung Rottweil GmbH & Co. KG is a local energy supplier serving customers in the districts of Rottweil, Tuttlingen, and Schwarzwald-Baar with electricity, natural gas, heat, and water. It also manages baths, wastewater, and energy efficiency. As a municipal subsidiary, it was commissioned to develop the heating plan for the oldest city in Baden-Württemberg.
History
The company's history dates back to 1884 when a pumping station in the 'Brunnentäle' supplied water to a high reservoir, and a gasworks was built in the Katzensteigmühle. In 1893, Andreas Lang converted the Vögelinsmühle into an electricity plant and supplied the city with power. The city of Rottweil took over the gasworks in 1905 and the electricity plant in 1921. Over the years, the network was expanded and modernized, including the switch from direct current to alternating current in 1930 and voltage changes in the 1950s. In 1958, Rottweil was connected to the Lake Constance water supply, and in 1965, the municipal gas network was connected to the Gasversorgung Süddeutschland network.
