Enthought's origins began in science. CEO Eric Jones PhD founded Enthought in 2001 after discovering firsthand how the Python scientific software stack could solve tough problems in his own research at Duke University. Eric Jones and Enthought have helped define modern computational science with a legacy that includes creating the original scientific Python package, scikit-learn package, and GUI toolkit, wxPython. They also founded the open-source Scientific Python (SciPy) conference and community. The company states it has 25 years building enterprise scientific AI and machine learning solutions, and that 80% of its global technical teams have PhDs in STEM disciplines.
