Overview

Envapro is a Spanish company dedicated to the production and supply of packaging for restaurants, hospitality and catering. Founded in Getafe, in the Community of Madrid, in 2006 by the merchant Antonio Otero, the company grew out of his earlier experience running a family fruit-shop chain and developing a tray-shaped container for storing vegetables. Officially named Envapro: Envases para profesionales, it moved to the Polígono Industrial de los Olivos as the business expanded. Envapro specialises in disposable and sustainable packaging for the HORECA sector — hotels, restaurants and catering — as well as for takeaway and delivery. Its catalogue covers paper bags, cardboard cups for hot and cold drinks, PET, PP and PS cups, delivery tubs, catering boxes and meal boxes, napkins, tablecloths, straws, cutlery, bottles, thermos flasks, jugs, vegetable-fibre containers, reels and cleaning and hygiene products. According to Europa Press, the company offers more than 3,500 references. In 2024 it launched a new series of sustainable products including plastic-free tubs and bags made from recycled paper. The company positions itself around environmental commitment, offering compostable, biodegradable and recyclable packaging and promoting a circular-economy model. Its website highlights functional, attractive and practical packaging, transparent and leak-proof containers, customised packaging and labels, and integral coverage of disposable needs for hospitality, restaurants and catering. Envapro serves more than 5,000 clients, including restaurant brands such as Sodexo, Starbucks, Alsea and Aloha. It has also cooperated with the NGO World Central Kitchen, founded by chef José Andrés, providing packaging in emergency situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic, Storm Filomena, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the DANA floods in Spain. During the pandemic it worked with the Community of Madrid and Sodexo to package food distributed in hospitals. In 2024 the company reached a turnover of 9.1 million euros, a 15% increase on the previous year according to Europa Press, and inaugurated new facilities in Getafe covering more than 10,000 square metres, equipped with solar panels. In September 2024 Carlos Ortiz de Lucas-Baquero was announced as the company's new strategy director. According to Forbes, the company reached a turnover of 11 million euros in 2025, a 21% increase on the previous period.

History

Envapro was founded in 2006 in Getafe, in the Community of Madrid, by the merchant Antonio Otero, who managed a family-origin chain of fruit shops. After working in the commercial management area of a thermoforming plastics factory, he developed a tray-shaped container for storing vegetables that was well received by his customers. Building on this experience, he decided in 2006 to start a company dedicated to the production of different packaging for restaurants. After occupying several premises and due to the growth of the business, Otero had to move the company, officially named Envapro: Envases para profesionales, to the Polígono Industrial de los Olivos. Although it initially focused on small clients and had limited production, over time it reached sufficient volume to work with large international packaging factories. According to operations director Eduardo Díaz, Envapro began working with materials such as cardboard, bottle plastics and other recyclable elements in the early 2010s, generating a circular production process: "We recycled our own surplus, we put the offcuts back into the production lines and thus we could manufacture again." After the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Envapro began working with the Community of Madrid and with Sodexo to package the food distributed in hospitals. This led them to also collaborate with chef José Andrés's NGO World Central Kitchen, providing packaging in various emergency situations. According to Aral magazine, the company distributed products such as cardboard tubs, cutlery packs and paper bags to the NGO "on the occasion of the pandemic, Storm Filomena, the Russian invasion of Ukraine or the Valencia DANA, among other contexts." Envapro expanded its client catalogue to restaurants, cafeterias, bars, hotels, collective catering and catering companies, including restaurant brands such as Sodexo, Starbucks, Alsea and Aloha. According to the Catalan newspaper El Nacional, by 2023 the company had more than 5,400 clients. In 2024 the company reached a turnover of 9.1 million euros, representing a 15% increase on the previous year according to Europa Press. The same year it inaugurated new facilities in Getafe with more than 10,000 square metres of surface area. Equipped with solar panels, these facilities allowed the company to expand its production capacity and hire more employees. In September 2024, Carlos Ortiz de Lucas-Baquero was announced as the company's new strategy director. According to Forbes, the company reached a turnover of 11 million euros in 2025, a 21% increase on the previous period.
