History
Espacio Enterprise Co., Ltd. was established on 3 July 2019 as Espacio Co., Ltd. (エスパシオ株式会社) in Naka-ku, Nagoya, as part of Kowa Co., Ltd.'s strategy to strengthen its hotel business. Kowa had entered the hotel industry in 1999 by making Nagoya Kanko Hotel a subsidiary, and in 2013 it made Nagoya Castle a subsidiary. In September 2019, Kowa established 'ESPACIO' as a new hotel brand, with its first property, the luxury resort ESPACIO THE JEWEL OF WAIKIKI, opening in Hawaii through a local subsidiary. Plans were made to renovate or rebuild the existing Nagoya Kanko Hotel and Hotel Nagoya Castle in line with the new brand concept. On 1 July 2021, Espacio Co., Ltd. absorbed via company split (吸収分割) the hotel and food-and-beverage operations of K.K. Hōō, K.K. Nagoya Kanko Hotel, and K.K. Nagoya Castle, and changed its name to Espacio Enterprise Co., Ltd. This integrated the operations of two Kowa Group hotel companies. In November 2021, floors 9 to 11 of Nagoya Kanko Hotel were renovated into a timeshare-only floor for affluent customers, sold as 'Espacio Timesharing Four Urban'. In July 2024, Espacio Hakone Guesthouse Rinhōkijū opened. In October 2025, Espacio Nagoya Castle (formerly Hotel Nagoya Castle) is scheduled to open. The company continues to operate a portfolio of hotels and restaurants, primarily in the Nagoya region, and remains a wholly owned subsidiary of Kowa.
