EVE

EVE (イブ) is an over-the-counter antipyretic-analgesic medicine brand from SSP Co., Ltd. (エスエス製薬). According to the brand's official history page, EVE was launched in 1985 and was the first OTC medicine in Japan to include ibuprofen as an analgesic ingredient. The brand has been developed with lineups matched to the changing and diversifying pain needs of women, and the official site states it will continue to support women moving forward. The current lineup includes EVE Quick Headache Medicine DX, EVE Quick Headache Medicine, EVE Three Shot Premium, EVE A Tablets and EVE A Tablets EX, all classified as Class 2 OTC drugs (第②類医薬品).

According to the official EVE history page, EVE was launched in 1985 and was the first OTC medicine in Japan to include the analgesic ingredient ibuprofen. In 1990 EVE A Tablets were launched, formulated with ingredients to enhance analgesic effect and described as working well on menstrual pain and headaches while being small and easy to swallow. In 2006 EVE Quick Headache Medicine was launched with a proprietary formulation that accelerates dissolution of the analgesic ingredient, described as fast-acting on headaches and gentle on the stomach. In 2014 EVE A Tablets EX were launched, strengthening the analgesic ingredient amount of EVE A Tablets and described as highly effective on the severe menstrual pain many women suffer. In 2016 EVE Quick Headache Medicine DX was launched, containing the maximum amount of ibuprofen and using a proprietary method for fast dissolution of ibuprofen and tablet disintegration, with 200 mg per dose (2 tablets), the largest in the EVE antipyretic-analgesic series. In 2017 EVE Melt was launched as a convenient orally disintegrating tablet that can be taken without water, effective on headaches and menstrual pain at one tablet per dose; the official page states production of this product has ended. In 2020 EVE Quick Headache Medicine DX was renewed. In 2022 the EVE A Tablets EX package was renewed with a pink package. In 2024 EVE Three Shot Premium was launched, combining the double analgesic ingredients ibuprofen and acetaminophen and described as effective on severe headache, menstrual pain and shoulder stiffness. In 2025 the brand marked 40 years since its 1985 birth.
