Overview
Ezo TV is a Polish esoteric television brand that began as a programming block on the iTV channel. Esoteric programmes with interactive viewer participation had been part of iTV's schedule since the channel's launch, airing under names such as "Poranek ezoteryczny" (Esoteric Morning) and "Wieczór ezoteryczny" (Esoteric Evening) depending on the time of day. On 5 June 2006, these programmes were separated into a distinct block under the Ezo TV name, a decision taken by the channel's then programming director, David Podhajski. The block carried a range of shows including "Horoskop dla ciebie", "Ezo biznes", "Horoskop", "Instytut ezoteryczne", "Horoskop gwiazd" and "Twój zielnik", and its broadcast hours changed frequently. Beyond its home channel, the EzoTV block appeared on a number of Polish television outlets, including iTV / TO!TV / Gold TV, TVN Meteo, Polonia 1, Tele 5, TVR, TOYA Łódź, TVS and Top Kids. In 2013, for several months, Ezo TV also broadcast as a separate television station. The standalone channel project had a complicated gestation: on 19 December 2011 Telestar, part of the listed Hyperion holding (Grupa MNI SA), received a KRRiT licence to broadcast a satellite programme named Ezo TV, intended as a 24-hour esoteric-entertainment channel spun off from iTV. The broadcaster changed plans and sought to launch an entertainment-music channel, Hot TV, instead; a test card signalling the start of Ezo TV appeared on satellite on 16 April 2012 but was quickly replaced by Hot TV. When the music-entertainment formula did not succeed, the broadcaster returned to the original concept. On 9 January 2013, through the transformation of Hot TV, a separate esoteric-entertainment Ezo TV channel was launched, available from 05:00 to 00:00, with the remaining time filled by Hot TV's night music block. It carried music videos, live esoteric programmes (daily 14:00–16:45 and 20:00–24:00) and repeats. The evening Ezo TV block continued to air simultaneously on iTV. In May 2013 KRRiT approved a change of character and name from Hot TV to Ezo TV, but four months after launch the project was abandoned; on 18 May 2013 a copy of iTV's new broadcast parameters appeared in Ezo TV's place, and Ezo TV returned to being only a block on iTV. From 1 April 2016 Ezo TV broadcast online. From 16 November 2016 it aired the fortune-teller Maciej's programme "Jeszcze bliżej", whose guests were mainly fortune-tellers as well as show-business figures and ordinary people. The block ended its broadcast on 30 April 2022, the day the Nuta Gold channel began test transmission. The domain ezotv.pl is now registered through the Aftermarket.eu domain service and is offered for contact with its owner, indicating that the original website is no longer an active brand portal.
History
Ezo TV's history is closely tied to the Polish channel iTV. Esoteric programmes with interactive viewer participation had been part of iTV's offer from the very beginning of the channel's existence. Depending on the time of broadcast, these esoteric programmes were called "Poranek ezoteryczny" (Esoteric Morning) and "Wieczór ezoteryczny" (Esoteric Evening). On 5 June 2006, the esoteric programmes on iTV were separated into a distinct block under the name Ezo TV. The decision to separate them was made by the channel's then programming director, David Podhajski. The block also carried other programmes, including "Horoskop dla ciebie", "Ezo biznes", "Horoskop", "Instytut ezoteryczne", "Horoskop gwiazd" and "Twój zielnik". The broadcast hours of the block changed frequently. In 2013, for several months, Ezo TV also broadcast as a separate television station. The path to that standalone channel was convoluted. On 19 December 2011, the company Telestar, belonging to the listed Hyperion holding (Grupa MNI SA), received a licence from KRRiT to broadcast a satellite programme under the name Ezo TV. The broadcaster planned to spin off the esoteric programming block from iTV — which had been broadcast since iTV's inception — into a separate television channel. The channel was to carry a 24-hour esoteric-entertainment programme. However, the broadcaster changed its plans and applied to KRRiT to change the licence to launch an entertainment-music channel, Hot TV. On 16 April 2012, a test card signalling the start of Ezo TV appeared on satellite, but it was quickly changed to Hot TV. The music-entertainment formula did not prove successful, and the broadcaster returned to the first concept. On 9 January 2013, as a result of the transformation of Hot TV, a separate esoteric-entertainment channel Ezo TV was launched. It was available from 05:00 to 00:00, with the remaining time filled by Hot TV's night music block. Ezo TV carried music videos, live esoteric programmes (daily from 14:00 to 16:45 and from 20:00 to 24:00) and their repeats. Despite the launch of the separate television channel, the evening Ezo TV block broadcast live was still aired simultaneously on the iTV channel. In May 2013, at the broadcaster's request, KRRiT adopted a resolution to change the character and name of the channel from the entertainment-music Hot TV to the esoteric-entertainment Ezo TV. However, four months after launch the project was abandoned. On 18 May 2013, a copy of iTV's new broadcast parameters was launched in Ezo TV's place. Ezo TV returned exclusively to the formula of a block on the iTV channel. From 1 April 2016, Ezo TV broadcast online. From 16 November 2016, the programme of fortune-teller Maciej, "Jeszcze bliżej", was broadcast. The guests of the programme were mainly fortune-tellers, as well as show-business people and ordinary individuals. On 30 April 2022, the day the Nuta Gold channel began test transmission, the block ended its broadcast. The EzoTV block appeared on the air of television stations such as iTV / TO!TV / Gold TV, TVN Meteo, Polonia 1, Tele 5, TVR, TOYA Łódź, TVS and Top Kids. The domain ezotv.pl is currently registered with Aftermarket.eu, a Polish domain registrar and marketplace, and the page invites interested parties to contact the domain owner, indicating that the original brand website is no longer active.
