Fagus-GreCon is a globally active family business headquartered in Alfeld (Leine), Germany. It develops and produces technologies for industrial fire protection and measurement technology, serving customers in more than 50 countries. The company traces its origins to 1911, when Carl Benscheidt founded FAGUS and commissioned architect Walter Gropius to design the Fagus Factory in Alfeld. The GreCon brand was founded in 1970 by Gerd and Ernst Greten, great-grandsons of Carl Benscheidt, and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024. Fagus-GreCon describes itself as the market leader in preventive industrial fire protection and offers measurement technology for stable quality and efficient processes.

Fagus-GreCon's history dates back to 1911, when Carl Benscheidt founded the company FAGUS and commissioned architect Walter Gropius to design his pioneering shoe last factory in Alfeld. In 1925, the first FAGUS shoe last lathe was constructed and an independent manufacturing technology for shoe last production was developed. In 1970, Gerd and Ernst Greten, great-grandsons of founder Carl Benscheidt, founded the company GreCon, Greten Consulting. In 1973, the first GreCon thickness measuring system DMR was developed, a milestone for automated quality control in board production. In 1974, the first industrial GreCon spark extinguishing system was developed, a decisive step towards greater safety in the wood and board industry. In 1987, the first GreCon scanner for the automatic detection of surface defects in solid wood was introduced. In 1998, a joint venture was founded. The GreCon brand celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024. Today, Fagus-GreCon is a globally active family business headquartered in Alfeld (Leine), with over 600 employees worldwide and more than 110 years of experience, operating in over 50 countries.
