Overview

Fair Mountain Coffee Roasters is a certified organic coffee company that sources specialty organic fair trade coffees from around the world and roasts them in-house. Its co-founders are Greg Lewis and Barbara DiBeneditto. The company operates a roastery and cafe in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey.

History

Fair Mountain Coffee's co-founders are Greg Lewis and Barbara DiBeneditto. According to the company's account, Greg Lewis entered the coffee business in New York City in 1984, when he walked into a coffee importing company on Wall Street looking for work. He was put in charge of the sample room, where he roasted and prepared coffee samples for traders and quality control experts to taste, grade and evaluate. Barbara DiBeneditto came to work at the same firm in the traffic department. Greg Lewis later moved from the cupping room to the trading desk at one of the largest coffee exporter/importer companies in the world, buying green coffees from South and Central America and selling to household-name coffee companies. He applied for his grader's license and passed the cupping and grading test to become a coffee grader for the Coffee, Sugar & Cocoa Exchange, and was selected to become a member of the quality arbitration panel for The Green Coffee Association of New York City.
