Overview

Felder Stall GmbH & CoKG is an Austrian manufacturer of livestock housing and stable technology based in Absam, Tyrol. Founded in 1913 by the locksmith Johann Felder sen. as a metalworking shop making steel heating stoves, the company evolved over more than a century into one of Austria's leading producers of stable equipment. It remains a family business, now in its third generation, with around 45 employees. The product range covers cattle, calf and horse stables. For cattle, Felder Stall supplies free-stall and tie-stall systems, milking parlours, partitions and fattening stalls. For calves, it offers self-catching gates, feeding stands, individual and mobile calf boxes. For horses, it provides exercise stables, horse boxes, stable doors and paddocks. A major focus is manure-removal technology, including broad scrapers, pressure-chamber systems, high conveyors and components, developed to reduce CO2 and ammonia emissions in modern dairy farming. The company markets its 'Stall Klima Smart' controlled-climate solution and carries out projects such as a new build for 30 cows and calves for the Willi family in Hittisau, Bregenzerwald. Felder Stall is headquartered in Absam, Tyrol, and serves customers primarily in Austria and the wider European market.

History

Felder Stall's history began in 1913, when the locksmith Johann Felder sen. founded a metalworking business in Absam, Tyrol, producing steel heating stoves for residential buildings. The following year, the First World War broke out and Johann Felder sen. was drafted into the Kaiserjäger regiment, halting the young company's development. He returned from the war in 1918 and resumed work, gradually expanding the product range to include concrete mixers and other equipment. In 1925, recognising the growing electrification of the country, he began manufacturing equipment for power plants. The business survived the global economic crisis, the Second World War and the post-war collapse between 1929 and 1945. In 1955, Michael Felder took over the company in the second generation from his father. He progressively started producing stable equipment for cattle, calf, pig and horse stables. In 1992, the range was extended to include free-stall (Laufstall) equipment, and Felder quickly made a name for itself with innovative concepts in livestock farming. During the 1990s, Michael Felder's children, Thomas and Margaret, joined the family business. In 1994, Ing. Thomas Felder and Margaret Posch took over [the company] in the third generation. Today, Felder Stall is one of Austria's leading manufacturers of stable technology, a successful family business in its third generation with around 45 employees, and its success story continues.
