Ferno (United Kingdom)

Ferno (UK) Limited is the United Kingdom arm of the Ferno Group, describing itself as a world leading innovator and manufacturer of patient transportation and rescue solutions. Established in 1971 as FW Equipment Co. Limited by local businessman Les Harris, the company was acquired by Ferno Washington Inc in 1989 and renamed Ferno (UK) Limited in 1992 to reflect its status as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Ferno Group. It designs, manufactures, distributes, markets and sells products to the emergency services, funeral and mortuary, industrial, aviation and military sectors, supported by its Ferno Care aftersales division, and supplies the UK, Ireland and export markets through the Ferno distributor network.

Ferno UK was established in 1971 originally under the name FW Equipment Co. Limited by a local family businessman called Les Harris. During 1989, Les decided to retire, at which time Ferno Washington Inc acquired the company and changed the name in 1992 to Ferno (UK) Limited to reflect it being a wholly owned subsidiary of the Ferno Group. Ferno UK moved to its current premises in 1996. The wider Ferno history dates back to 1945, with founders Elroy Bourgraf and Dick Ferneau, and includes innovations such as pioneering use of aluminum tubing, the Model 30 X-Frame Cot and iNTRAXX technology.
