Ferrari-Carano Vineyards & Winery

Ferrari-Carano Vineyards & Winery is a winery located in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley, where its Italianate winery and hospitality center, Villa Fiore, are based. Founded in 1981 by Don and Rhonda Carano, it released its first wines in 1987 — a 1986 Fumé Blanc and a 1985 Alexander Valley Chardonnay — and today produces those wines plus over 20 other white and red wines. Owned by Bill and Carol Foley since 2019, the estate farms 21 vineyards certified by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance and draws fruit from Alexander Valley, Russian River Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Napa Carneros and Mendocino Ridge/Anderson Valley.

Don and Rhonda Carano, natives of Reno, Nevada and second-generation Italian-Americans, founded Ferrari-Carano in 1981. They were introduced to Northern Sonoma County in 1979 while searching for wines for the wine lists at the Eldorado, their hotel casino in Reno. They purchased a 60-acre parcel in the Alexander Valley and began acquiring additional vineyard land. Ground was broken for Ferrari-Carano Winery in Dry Creek Valley in 1985, and the first wines bearing the Ferrari-Carano label were released in 1987: a 1986 Fumé Blanc and a 1985 Alexander Valley Chardonnay. The winery has been owned by Bill and Carol Foley since 2019 and still produces the Fumé Blanc and Chardonnay as well as over 20 other white and red wines. Its 21 vineyards have earned California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA) certification.
