History
Fichet traces its security innovation heritage over 200 years. In 1825 Fichet invented the anti-pick lock, and in 1840 Bauche created the first "incombustible" fireproof safe. In 1926 Fichet installed the first alarm system on an industrial site, and in 1947 Hygiaphone invented the hygienic counter window for germ protection. Bauche and Fichet merged in 1967. In 1984 Fichet-Bauche created remote supervision platforms, and in 1987 MATRA Sécurité developed the contactless MS Pass badge. Fichet-Bauche launched the first self-service ATM range in 1989 and created the first central control unit with configurable bus in 1991. Gunnebo took over the Fichet-Bauche Group in 1999, and Ritzenthaler and Matra Sécurité were acquired in 2001. In 2005 SMI became the first remote supervision system to include IP cameras, and in 2009 the first certified doors and partitions with break-in, bullet and blast resistance appeared. Inviktus was the first high risk safe to be awarded triple certification (break-in, blast and fire) in 2015, and in 2017 SMI became the first access control system to be approved by ANSSI. Doors and windows with certified Kalashnikov resistance followed in 2018, and Fichet Group was created in 2019 with a new majority shareholder.
