Overview
FIGEAC AÉRO is a French aerospace subcontractor headquartered in Figeac in the Lot department of south-western France. Founded in 1989, the company grew from a small regional machining workshop into one of France's notable tier-one/tier-two suppliers to the aerospace industry, specialising in precision machining of hard metals (titanium, aluminium, stainless steel, Inconel-type alloys) and in composite and sheet-metal aerostructures. The group's offering spans the full production chain for aerostructure parts: machining of structural components, sheet-metal forming and assembly, surface treatment, composite manufacturing, engine parts and sub-assemblies, and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) support. Its customer base is dominated by major aerospace primes and engine makers — Airbus, Boeing, Safran, Rolls-Royce, Bombardier, Embraer, Dassault and their tier-one suppliers — for whom Figeac Aéro produces parts for programmes such as the Airbus A320 family, A350, A400M, Boeing 737 and 787, and various engine programmes. FIGEAC AÉRO is listed on Euronext Paris (ticker FGA) and operates an international industrial footprint with plants in France and abroad, including sites in Mexico, Romania, Tunisia, Morocco and the United States, developed to follow customers and to serve offset and local-content requirements. The company positions itself as an integrated partner for aerostructure and engine-part supply, combining machining, assembly and treatment capabilities under one group. Like much of the aerospace supply chain, the group was severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the collapse in aircraft production in 2020–2021, which pushed it into a restructuring of its debt and a recovery plan. Since then it has benefited from the rebound in narrow-body aircraft build rates and from the general recovery of aerospace demand. The brand is known in the industry as a specialist subcontractor rather than a consumer-facing name, and its reputation rests on precision manufacturing capability and long-term contracts with the major airframers.
History
FIGEAC AÉRO was founded in 1989 in Figeac, a town in the Lot department of south-western France with a long aeronautics tradition dating back to the establishment of aircraft manufacturing in the region in the early 20th century. The company began as a precision machining workshop serving local aerospace customers and gradually expanded its capabilities into sheet-metal work, surface treatment, composite manufacturing and sub-assembly. Through the 2000s the group grew by winning contracts on major Airbus and Boeing programmes and by acquiring complementary industrial sites, building a network of plants in France and abroad. It established operations in Mexico, Romania, Tunisia, Morocco and the United States to follow customers and meet local-content and offset requirements. The company listed its shares on Euronext Paris, giving it access to capital markets to fund this expansion. The 2010s saw Figeac Aéro consolidate its position as a supplier of structural and engine parts, with long-term agreements on programmes such as the Airbus A320 family, A350 and A400M and the Boeing 737 and 787. The group invested heavily in new plants and equipment to support rising build rates. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020–2021 caused an unprecedented collapse in aircraft production and dealt a severe blow to the group's revenue and finances, forcing it into a debt restructuring and recovery plan with its lenders and shareholders. As aerospace demand recovered from 2022 onwards, driven by narrow-body production ramp-ups, the company worked to restore profitability and resume growth, continuing to position itself as an integrated aerostructure and engine-part partner to the major primes.
