It adopted the name of the famous composer Gioacchino Rossini in 1923. Under the direction of Maestro Michele Andreoni, the group rose to prominence in the band world. Almost all the old musicians, young and old, rejoined, and instruments and materials stored for years in the old Mannelli cinema were brought out again. The municipal administration collaborated in the initiative. The band is listed among the 2,446 Italian bands registered on BandaMusicale.it, a portal dedicated to Italian wind bands. As a community musical association, it performs concerts and participates in local events, continuing a tradition of amateur wind band music in Tuscany.
History
The Filarmonica Gioacchino Rossini of Campiglia Marittima traces its origins to the second half of the 19th century, when the first Corpo Bandistico was established in the town. It was only in 1923 that the band took the name of the famous composer from Pesaro, Gioacchino Rossini. Under the direction of the renowned Maestro Michele Andreoni, the group achieved prominence in the band world. During the 1940s, due to various vicissitudes, including world problems, the band went through periods of ups and downs, followed by periods of inactivity. In the 1970s, under the leadership of Maestro Paolo Ghizzani, after an intense period of excellent results, the band continued until the 1990s. After a long silent inactivity, in 1996, through the tenacious will of some passionate musicians from Campiglia, who in the past had been part of the then Corpo Musicale since they were very young, a new association slowly began to re-form. Almost all the old musicians, young and less young, and even very young ones, rejoined. Instruments and all the material that had remained for years in the closets of the old Mannelli cinema were dusted off. The municipal administration collaborated in the initiative. The band is listed on BandaMusicale.it, a portal that catalogs Italian wind bands, among the 2,446 registered Italian bands.
