Overview

Firma Księgarska Jacek Olesiejuk (commonly shortened to FK Olesiejuk) is a Polish book distribution and publishing company founded in 1994 by brothers Jacek and Krzysztof Olesiejuk, who had opened a book stall at Warsaw's Central Railway Station in 1990. It grew into one of the largest book distributors in Poland, supplying bookshops, supermarkets and other retail channels with a broad catalogue of titles. In 2002 the company moved its headquarters to Ożarów Mazowiecki, near Warsaw, and in the same year established the publishing house FK Olesiejuk-Inwestycje, which today operates as Wydawnictwo Olesiejuk. The publishing arm became a separate organizational unit within its parent company in 2009, and at the end of that year the firm also created a music publishing distribution department. As of June 2024, Wydawnictwo Olesiejuk is part of the Dressler Dublin Sp. z o.o. group. The company has been recognized with the Teraz Polska promotional emblem and repeatedly received the Gazela Biznesu award from the newspaper Puls Biznesu between 2005 and 2009. It is a member of the Business Centre Club. FK Olesiejuk remains active in the Polish book market, combining wholesale distribution with its own publishing output.

History

The origins of Firma Księgarska Jacek Olesiejuk date to 1990, when brothers Jacek and Krzysztof Olesiejuk opened a book stall at the Central Railway Station in Warsaw. In 1994 they formally established Firma Księgarska Jacek Olesiejuk, which grew into one of Poland's largest book distribution companies. In 2002 the firm relocated its headquarters to Ożarów Mazowiecki, near Warsaw, and in the same year founded the publishing house FK Olesiejuk-Inwestycje, which later became known as Wydawnictwo Olesiejuk. In 2006 the company received funding from the European Regional Development Fund for expansion. In 2007 it became a shareholder in the acquired publishers Harald G (dictionaries) and Watra (culinary titles). In 2009 Wydawnictwo Olesiejuk was integrated into its parent company, Firma Księgarska Olesiejuk, as a separate organizational unit; at the end of that year the firm also established a distribution department for music publications. The company has been recognized with the Teraz Polska promotional emblem in the 16th edition of the competition, and received the Gazela Biznesu award from Puls Biznesu in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. It is a member of the Business Centre Club. As of June 2024, Wydawnictwo Olesiejuk is part of the Dressler Dublin Sp. z o.o. group.
