Florida Entomological Society

The Florida Entomological Society (FES) was founded in 1916 by a small group of naturalists at the University of Florida to promote and stimulate interest in entomology among Floridians. It received its official charter from the State of Florida (#709710) on October 5, 1965, and Federal tax exempt status in 1998. With approximately 700 members, it is described as the largest state entomological society in the USA. Its official journal, Florida Entomologist, is recognized as "an international journal for the Americas" and is published quarterly; the society has a new publisher, De Gruyter Journals. The society holds annual meetings and an annual convention in Florida, and maintains close alliances with entomologists from the Caribbean Region.
