Flymo

Flymo is a garden-care brand whose product range covers corded and cordless lawnmowers, hover mowers, robotic mowers, hedge and grass trimmers, blowers and vacs, chainsaws, pressure cleaners and weeders. According to its own About Us page, the brand originated from the idea of a lawn mower floating on a cushion of air, inspired by the British invention of the hovercraft, conceived by Swedish lawn mower manufacturer Karl Dahlman in 1964. The brand states it has over 57 years of cutting edge innovation and that it is part of the world's largest producer of outdoor power products.

Flymo's own About Us page states that the British invention of the hovercraft inspired Swedish lawn mower manufacturer Karl Dahlman to invent a flying lawn mower — a lawn mower floating on a cushion of air — shortened to Flymo, described as a brilliant idea in 1964. The first sales season for Flymo in 1965 brought immediate success; initially customers found the hover concept hard to imagine, and early sales tended to be made only after the Flymo had been demonstrated on the customer's lawn. The company grew during the 1970s, building lawn mowers in its UK factory, and today still manufactures some of its robotic lawn mowers in the UK. The brand states it has over 57 years of cutting edge innovation and that it is part of the world's largest producer of outdoor power products.
