The company offers heli hiking, ice climbing, guided walking and mountain experiences, with helicopter access only, and states that it has guided for more than 50 years. In 2005 additional shareholders joined the business, which helped shape Alpine Guides Fox Glacier Ltd, trading as Fox Glacier Guiding. In 2024 it celebrated 50 years of guiding.

Guiding on Fox Glacier began in 1928 when the Fox Hotel first offered guided trips onto the glacier. In 1974, Mike Browne, a mountaineer working at Mount Cook, moved to Fox Glacier and took over the glacier guiding. Mike is also a founding member of the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association (NZMGA), an affiliate of the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA). Mike and his wife Carrol grew the business steadily over the next 31 years, and in 2005 additional shareholders joined the business, which helped shape Alpine Guides Fox Glacier Ltd, trading as Fox Glacier Guiding. In 2024, Fox Glacier Guiding celebrated 50 years of guiding.
