Overview
Franklin International is among the largest privately held manufacturers of polymers, adhesives, and sealants in the United States. Family-owned and operated since 1935, the company opened as The Franklin Glue Company with the first ready-to-use liquid hide glue. Its brands include Titebond and Franklin Adhesives & Polymers, with distribution in more than 60 countries.
History
Franklin International opened its doors in 1935 as The Franklin Glue Company, launching the first ready-to-use liquid hide glue used primarily for furniture manufacturing. This formula required no heating or mixing and could be applied at room temperature, unlike traditional adhesives. In 1951, The Franklin Glue Company developed the first water-based, aliphatic resin glue, from which the Titebond brand was born. In 1953, Franklin's first polymer was developed on Chestnut Street in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The company remains family-owned and operated since 1935.
