History
Frite Alors! was born on 27 May 1991 in a small location on Avenue du Parc in Montreal. Its founder, Jean Jurdant, of Belgian nationality, was surprised not to find better fries in Montreal and immediately saw the opportunity to import his know-how from Belgium. He partnered with his mother and his girlfriend Aline to offer Montreal his crispy Belgian fries. The small location was not enough to meet demand, and people lined up outside waiting for their cone of fries. Two years later, Yannick de Groote, also Belgian, joined Jean to open a second establishment on Laurier street. From potato to potato, the idea of franchising made its way. The banner now operates on the island of Montreal, in Vieux-Longueuil, Quebec City, and even Lyon and Saint-Étienne in France.
