Overview

FUJI Dempa Kogyo Co., Ltd. (富士電波工業株式会社) is a Japanese manufacturer of industrial electric heating equipment headquartered in Yodogawa-ku, Osaka. Founded in September 1948 (Showa 23), the company has built its business around industrial electric heating technology, and describes itself as having grown alongside the development of Japanese manufacturing. Its founding business was high-frequency induction melting furnaces, which supported the expansion of the metals industry during Japan's high-growth era; it later applied the same thermal know-how to ultra-high-temperature furnaces and hot presses for fine ceramics, contributing to the rise of the semiconductor and "electronic nation" era. The company also operates a special-steel casting business using its own high-frequency induction furnaces. The product range covers vacuum sintering furnaces (resistance-heated up to 2500°C and induction-heated up to 3000°C), pressurized-atmosphere sintering furnaces, hot presses (from small laboratory units to large production machines with up to 750 tonnes of pressing force), high-frequency induction melting furnaces, vacuum melting furnaces, induction heating and heat-treatment equipment, IGBT inverters, and the multi-purpose high-temperature furnace "Hi-Multi" (ハイマルチ®). Beyond hardware, it offers contracted analysis (thermal and stress analysis), monitoring systems, and contracted heating experiments using in-house equipment such as sintering furnaces, hot presses and melting furnaces. Its special-steel stainless casting division specializes in materials at or above stainless-steel grade, including nickel-based alloys. The company is privately held, with stated capital of 336.5 million yen and revenue of 5,154 million yen for the fiscal year ended August 2025. It employs 122 people and closes its books once a year at the end of August. Representative Director and President is Toshio Yokohata (横畠 俊夫). Operations include the Osaka head office and sales office, Tokyo and Nagoya sales offices, and the Shiga Plant in Konan, Shiga Prefecture. Affiliate Shiroko Electric Co., Ltd. (白光電気株式会社) designs and manufactures power supplies and control panels. In 2019 the company received the "Osaka Monozukuri Excellent Company Award 2018" (審査委員特別賞, Judges' Special Prize), and it continues to exhibit at industrial furnace trade fairs such as Thermotech.

History

FUJI Dempa Kogyo was founded in September 1948 (Showa 23) in Nosato-cho, Nishiyodogawa-ku, Osaka. From its earliest years the company worked in industrial electric heating, and its founding business was high-frequency induction heating furnaces, which contributed to increased metals production during Japan's high-growth period. In 1952 it developed the FH-type high-frequency induction melting furnace with a capacity of 120 kVA, far exceeding the limit of the time. In 1953, under the guidance of the Osaka Industrial Technology Research Institute (now part of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Kansai Center), it developed a high-frequency high-temperature hot press. In 1958 it built and moved to a new head office and factory in Shinko, Yodogawa-ku, Osaka, and succeeded in developing its own vertical high-frequency generator. In 1959 it developed Japan's first crucible-type low-frequency induction electric furnace for cast-iron melting. In 1968 the company developed a thyristor-inverter high-frequency induction melting furnace, which was series-branded under the nickname "Magic Hertz" (マジックヘルツ). In 1970 it established the Shiga Plant in Kosei-cho, Koka-gun, Shiga Prefecture (now Konan City) and entered the special-steel casting business. In 1972, ahead of the industry, it established a periodic inspection service company, Fuji Dempa Engineering (dissolved in 2005). In 1975 it developed a crucible made of metal-fiber-containing two-layer composite material. In 1978 it developed a front-split vacuum high-temperature sintering furnace, greatly improving workability in fine-ceramics firing. In 1979 Shintaro Yokohata became chairman and Hiroshi Yokohata became president. In 1981 the Shiga Plant added an equipment manufacturing factory. In 1982 it completed and delivered Japan's largest continuous hot press for production use. In 1985 it increased capital to 210 million yen and built a four-story reinforced-concrete head office. In later decades the company applied its thermal technology to ultra-high-temperature furnaces and hot presses for fine ceramics, supporting the semiconductor industry, and more recently to the production of key components for eco-friendly cars. It also continued its special-steel casting business using its own high-frequency induction furnaces. As of the fiscal year ended August 2025, the company reported revenue of 5,154 million yen, capital of 336.5 million yen and 122 employees, with Toshio Yokohata as Representative Director and President. In 2019 it received the Judges' Special Prize at the Osaka Monozukuri Excellent Company Award 2018, presented at the Osaka Central Public Hall. The company continues to exhibit at industrial furnace trade fairs and maintains sales offices in Tokyo and Nagoya alongside its Osaka head office and Shiga Plant.
