The competition is organized under the honorary patronage of the Ministry of National Education and the academic patronage of institutions including the Historical Institute of the University of Warsaw, the Institute of Jewish Studies of the Jagiellonian University, the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, and the Jewish Historical Institute; the Israeli Ministry of Education also cooperates in organizing it. An organizing committee supervises the competition, chaired by Dr. hab. Jolanta Żyndul (previously Prof. Feliks Tych and Prof. Marcin Kula). Over 20,000 students have taken part. The 14th edition final was held on 8 June 2025 after a several-year break caused by the pandemic, organized by Fundacja Shalom in cooperation with the Emanuel Ringelblum Jewish Historical Institute. The competition's originator is Gołda Tencer, described as an actress, director, director of the Jewish Theatre, and founder of Fundacja Shalom.
