Lawsuit over fake in-game purchase discounts, UK regulator rules ads misleading, and age discrimination controversy in hiring

In 2018, the UK Advertising Standards Authority found FunPlus's King of Avalon ads misleading and ordered them withdrawn. Between 2022 and 2023, its State of Survival and King of Avalon faced class actions in the United States over in-app stores using strikethrough prices to create a false impression of "discounts." In January 2025, FunPlus said the team's average age was 30.8 and that it "needed to be younger," drawing accusations of age discrimination; in the same period, HR mistakenly published internal sensitive information as recruitment content. The company fired the employee(s) involved, and litigation is ongoing.
