Overview

Gal Einai (גל עיני, 'Open My Eyes') is an Israeli non-profit association dedicated to disseminating the inner dimensions of Torah — Kabbalah and Chassidut — through classes, videos, seminars, book publishing, music albums, and jewelry. It is named after the biblical verse 'Open my eyes that I may behold wondrous things out of Your Torah' (Psalms 119:18). The organization is headed by Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburgh, a Chabad Chassid, with Rabbi Itiel Giladi serving as director. Founded in 1986, Gal Einai began by transcribing and distributing Rabbi Ginsburgh's classes and gatherings on tapes and booklets, later expanding into full book publishing that adapts the teachings delivered in his lectures and talks. Today, the classes are distributed to the public through the weekly booklet 'Niflaot' (Wonders). The organization has an English branch managed by Rabbi Moshe Genuth, which publishes the weekly 'Wonders' newsletter, and a Spanish branch managed by Rabbi Chaim Frim, which publishes the weekly 'Dimensiones' newsletter. A weekly newsletter in English and Hebrew contains the booklets and processed materials produced by the organization. Gal Einai publishes over 150 books, some translated into English, Spanish, French, and Russian. Its publishing arm also releases albums of melodies composed by Rabbi Ginsburgh and various Chabad melodies. The organization operates a music department that periodically releases albums and singles, and in 2021 (תשפ"א) launched the 'Gal Einai Institute' website, which hosts thousands of Rabbi Ginsburgh's lessons in text and audio, as well as 155 of his books. The association is registered with GuideStar Israel.

History

Gal Einai was founded in 1986 by Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburgh, a Chabad Chassid who published classes and books on Kabbalah and Chassidut. In its early days, the organization would transcribe Rabbi Ginsburgh's classes and gatherings and distribute them to the public on tapes and in booklets. Later, it began publishing books that adapted the teachings delivered in classes and speeches. Today, the classes are distributed to the public through the weekly booklet Niflaot. The organization also has an English branch managed by Rabbi Moshe Genuth, which publishes the weekly 'Wonders' newsletter, and a Spanish branch managed by Rabbi Chaim Frim, which publishes the weekly 'Dimensiones' newsletter. The organization publishes a weekly newsletter in English and Hebrew containing the booklets it produces as well as processed materials from the newsletter. The organization is named after the verse 'Open my eyes that I may behold wondrous things out of Your Torah' (Psalms 119:18), interpreted as a request that God remove what covers the eyes so that we may see the secrets of the inner dimension of Torah. Regarding the Niflaot booklet: since the year 2017 (תשע"ז), the organization has published a booklet summarizing Rabbi Ginsburgh's classes. The Niflaot newsletter is a booklet of at least 30 pages containing summaries of Torah classes and Chassidic gatherings of Rabbi Ginsburgh. In the years 2017–2019 (תשע"ז–תשע"ט), the newsletter was called 'Va'avita', and from Shavuot 2019 (תשע"ט) its design changed and it was presented as Niflaot. Besides the main class in the booklet, there are usually one or two more classes, as well as regular sections such as a Chassidic story, commentary on the Torah in general Chassidut, a children's section, responsa, correction of the state, and a Chassidic melody from the tunes of Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburgh. The newsletter is distributed throughout the country. Unlike most newsletters distributed by various companies, this booklet is distributed mainly by independent individuals across the country. As of Av 2022 (תשפ"ב), there are about 475 distributors nationwide. From 2022 (תשפ"ב), the 'Avita-Niflaot' newsletter also began — a subsidiary booklet of the Niflaot newsletter. It is published approximately once every two weeks and contains an adaptation of a class or article by Rabbi Ginsburgh. Besides the class, it has two more sections: a Chassidic story or a response from the Rabbi, and 'From a Personal Perspective' — writing by one of the students. The newsletter is distributed in about 40,000 copies throughout the country. Another weekly newsletter published by the organization is 'Wonders' — an English-language newsletter in the form of Niflaot. It is shorter than Niflaot but contains about 16 pages each week. It is distributed mainly abroad. A Spanish newsletter is also published under the name 'Dimensiones'. In 2021 (תשפ"א), a website called 'Gal Einai Institute' was established, containing thousands of Rabbi Ginsburgh's classes in text, thousands of audio classes from previous years (starting from 1983), and 155 of Rabbi Ginsburgh's books (as of Av 2022). The site's system publishes a weekly newsletter with new materials uploaded to the site, links in response to user questions, and links to classes related to the week or the time. The music department periodically releases albums of melodies from Rabbi Ginsburgh's tunes. Sometimes the Rabbi's voice is sung in the album, sometimes different artists, and sometimes it is an instrumental album. Also, from time to time a single or clip from the Rabbi's tunes is uploaded to the music department's YouTube channel. The organization has published over 150 books — some translated into English, Spanish, French, and Russian. The publishing department is also the publisher of the albums with melodies composed by Rabbi Ginsburgh and various Chabad melodies.
