Overview

Gallery Deux Poissons (ギャラリードゥポワソン) is a contemporary jewellery gallery in Ebisu, Tokyo, opened in 2003. It describes itself as one of the few galleries in Japan devoted specifically to jewellery, presenting several curated exhibitions each year alongside a permanent display of work by Japanese and international jewellery artists. The gallery's programme spans conceptual contemporary jewellery and design, and it also stocks catalogues and publications by the artists it represents. A second space, annex deux poissons, sits across the street and is used for exhibitions and sales projects by emerging makers and designers. The gallery also proposes its own bridal and engagement ring collections, in which jewellers and designers reinterpret conventional wedding rings. Its address is in a residential district of Ebisu, roughly a 13-minute walk from Ebisu Station and an 8-minute walk from Hiroo Station.

History

Gallery Deux Poissons opened in 2003 in Ebisu, Tokyo, as a gallery dedicated to contemporary jewellery. According to its own account, it is one of the few galleries in Japan specialising in jewellery. From the outset it combined a programme of several curated exhibitions each year with a permanent presentation of work by Japanese and European jewellery artists, whose practices it describes as conceptually strong, technically rigorous and refined. Beyond exhibitions, the gallery stocks catalogues and publications by the artists it represents. It later established annex deux poissons, a smaller space across the street from the main gallery, conceived as a venue for experimental projects and emerging makers and designers, mainly in jewellery and accessories; the annex is a minimal 21-square-metre space with a 3.5-metre ceiling and abundant natural light. The gallery has also developed its own bridal and engagement ring collections, in which Japanese and international jewellers and designers reinterpret conventional wedding rings. Its programme has included exhibitions such as Mensch by Otto Künzli and Jiro Kamata, and YAWN RINGS, and participation in events such as CURATION⇄FAIR Kyoto 2026.
