Overview
Ganbit (株式会社ギャンビット) is a Japanese company headquartered in Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, whose core business is advertising talent casting. Founded in 1976 and incorporated in November 1986, the company has spent nearly four decades connecting brands with the right celebrities, cultural figures, and athletes to deliver advertising messages. Its name derives from the chess opening strategy "gambit," reflecting a philosophy of sacrificing a pawn early to create a favorable position — a metaphor for strategic business advantage. Ganbit's casting business is supported by its proprietary talent search system, DISS, developed early in its history to collect and analyze information on talents, cultural figures, and athletes. Beyond casting, the company operates a promotion business and an entertainment business. The entertainment division, launched in 2004, handles film planning, production, and distribution, as well as tie-up song production for dramas, films, and commercials. It has been involved in numerous Japanese films, including "Ring Ring Ring" (1993), "Tsure ga Utsu ni Narimashite" (2011), "Ju-on: The Beginning of the End" (2014), and "The Father of the Light" (2019), as well as television dramas and anime such as "Tesla Note" (2021). Ganbit also engages in publishing, having launched the culture magazine MEKURU in 2013 and published books such as the 2020 anthology "Shōjo Mangaka Akatsuka Fujio." The company is led by representative director Masahiro Miyata, operates with capital of 60 million yen, and employs around 40 people as of April 2025. It maintains its headquarters at the Itsukudo Building in Tsukiji, Tokyo, and has previously operated an Osaka branch that was integrated into the head office in 2015.
