Overview

Garuru Records (GARURU RECORDS / ガルル・レコード) is a Japanese record label founded by rock musician Eikichi Yazawa. It was established after Yazawa's 20-year contract with EMI Music Japan (now Universal Music) ended in 2008. The label releases and sells its own products directly, without relying on major or indie distributors, which means its releases may not be stocked in all retail stores regardless of scale. The first release was the live video 'The Real Eikichi Yazawa 100times in Budokan' on April 23, 2008, on DVD and Blu-ray. The first CD release was the reissue of Yazawa's six remix albums 'YOUR SONGS 1–6' on January 30, 2009. The label has since reissued Yazawa's original studio albums from his Warner Music Japan and EMI Music Japan periods in paper-jacket (mini-LP) format, though some live albums and other items remain unreissued. In 2012, Yazawa was selected as the first artist for made-to-order DVDs on TSUTAYA online, operated by Culture Convenience Club. The label's roster centers on Eikichi Yazawa and his daughter, Yoko Yazawa, who also performs with her band PIGGY BANKS. Garuru Records continues to release Yazawa's new works, with the exception of the September 24, 2025 release 'I believe'.

History

Garuru Records was founded by Eikichi Yazawa after his 20-year affiliation with EMI Music Japan (now Universal Music) ended in 2008. The label's first release was the live video 'The Real Eikichi Yazawa 100times in Budokan' on April 23, 2008, available on DVD and Blu-ray. On January 30, 2009, the label issued its first CD, a reissue of Yazawa's six remix albums 'YOUR SONGS 1–6', originally released by EMI Music Japan in three volumes each in 2006 and 2007. The label then began reissuing Yazawa's original studio albums from his Warner Music Japan and EMI Music Japan periods in paper-jacket (mini-LP) format, though some live albums and other items were not reissued. In 2012, Yazawa was chosen as the first artist for made-to-order DVDs on TSUTAYA online, operated by Culture Convenience Club. The label's roster includes Eikichi Yazawa and Yoko Yazawa, who also performs with her band PIGGY BANKS since 2016. Garuru Records continues to release Yazawa's new works, with the exception of the September 24, 2025 release 'I believe'.
