History
Gecko Robotics was founded in 2013 by Jake Loosararian and Troy Demmer. The idea originated in 2012 when Loosararian, then an engineering student at Grove City College, visited a power plant and learned of a fatality during manual inspection of a boiler. He built a wall-climbing robot with ultrasonic sensors and cameras, which successfully identified a recurring issue. After partnering with Troy Demmer, the company was formed. Gecko participated in Y Combinator's Winter 2016 batch. The company has raised multiple funding rounds, including a $125M Series D in June 2025 that valued it at $1.25B. It operates internationally with offices in Houston, Boston, and New York.
