Getzner Textil AG

Getzner Textil AG is an Austrian textile manufacturer founded in 1818 as the family business Getzner, Mutter & Cie. in Bludenz. In 1980 the textile division spun off as an independent public limited company. The company describes itself as one of the world's leading manufacturers of fabrics for African fashion, shirts and blouses as well as corporate fashion and technical textiles, and as the world champion exporter of fine damask fabrics. It reports around 1,550 employees, 9 locations, revenue of more than 434 million euros per year, 610 weaving machines and a 98 per cent export share.

The family business Getzner, Mutter & Cie. was founded in 1818 by Christian Getzner, Franz Xaver Mutter and Andreas Gassner. In the following year the first red dye works in western Austria and the first machine spinning mill in Feldkirch were opened. By 1820 the company employed 3,000 home workers for spinning and weaving in the Bludenz district. In 1827 Christian Getzner and his co-partners took over the municipal bleaching plant in Bludenz, a milestone for the Bludenz business location. In 1980 the textile division of Getzner, Mutter & Cie. spun off as an independent public limited company. Getzner, Mutter & Cie., Getzner Textil AG and Getzner Werkstoffe celebrated their 200th anniversary in 2018.
