Overview
GHEbavaria Maschinen GmbH is a German mechanical engineering company based in Eibelstadt near Würzburg, Bavaria. The company traces its origins to 1870, when brothers Karl and Georg Hofmann took over a smithy in Eibelstadt that had existed since around 1660. Initially focused on repairing agricultural equipment and contract threshing, the business expanded into trading and later manufacturing agricultural machinery. Since 1925 the brand name Bavaria and the current company name GHE Bavaria have been in use. In the post-war construction boom from the 1950s to the early 1980s, the company also built excavators and cranes, at times as an OEM for DEMAG. Since the early 1970s, briquetting presses and wood-bending machines have been designed and built in Eibelstadt. A fundamental restructuring in the early 1980s led to the cessation of own production in 1983/84; the crane and excavator programme was discontinued, and a reduced range of agricultural machinery was offered until 2000, along with spare parts. Today, GHEbavaria Maschinen GmbH is primarily known in the chair industry as a system partner for full-wood bending plants. Its product range includes wood-bending machines (Stuzama VP, Stuzama FG, Stuzama II, Rubima), steamers (Dämpfer), briquetting presses for chips, and high-precision trackers for photovoltaics (PV and CPV) and solar thermal systems. These systems are used not only for process steam heating for wood bending but also for solar energy applications. Plants from Eibelstadt are in operation in numerous countries on all continents. The company also answers questions about agricultural machinery and spare parts that it produced between 1870 and 2000.
History
The history of GHEbavaria Maschinen GmbH begins in 1870, when brothers Karl and Georg Hofmann took over the smithy in Eibelstadt near Würzburg that had been run by their father and grandfather since about 1660. They expanded the repair business for agricultural equipment by adding a contract threshing service. In 1880, the now significantly grown operation moved outside the town wall to the Gebr.-Hofmann-Ring, where it remains today. Activities were extended to trading in agricultural machinery, and later to in-house production of agricultural machinery. Since 1925, the brand name Bavaria and the current company name GHE Bavaria have been used. Like every company that must move with the times and continually reinvent itself and its products in a constantly changing environment, during the construction boom in Germany from the 1950s to the early 1980s, excavators and cranes were also built in its halls, at times as an OEM for DEMAG. Since the early 1970s, briquetting presses and wood-bending machines have been designed and built in Eibelstadt. In the case of the briquetting press, a friendly company discontinued its production, but the topic appeared interesting due to the first oil crisis. The wood-bending topic was taken over and continued from the nearby company Holma from Wiesentheid. In the early 1980s, the company underwent a fundamental restructuring, which in 1983/84 led to the abandonment of its own production. The crane and excavator programme was discontinued, and a reduced range of agricultural machinery was offered until 2000, along with spare parts. Today, GHEbavaria Maschinen GmbH is mainly known in the chair industry as a system partner for plants for bending solid wood. Other products include briquetting plants for chips, high-precision trackers for photovoltaics (PV and CPV) and solar thermal systems, which can be used not only for process steam heating for wood bending. Plants from Eibelstadt prove themselves in numerous countries on all continents.
