Overview
Ghetto Fabulous Gang (also known as Ghetto Fabulous or Ghetto Fab) is a French independent hip-hop collective and label founded by rapper Alpha 5.20. Its original members come from the northern suburbs of Paris, specifically Seine-Saint-Denis and Seine-et-Marne, and include five rappers: Alpha 5.20 (founder, producer and owner of Ghetto Fab'), O'Rosko Raricim, Shone, KER (of the group Holocost) and Malik Bledoss. The collective is described as a multinational specialised in the music industry, audiovisual production (Ghetto Fabulous Film), textiles (Ghetto Fabulous Wear, Africaine City and HLM Wear), production (Ghetto Fabulous Gang and Hors la Loi Music) and various investments including humanitarian real estate. Associated groups and artists include 93 Étandard, C4 Explosif, Coroner, Styladone, Alpha Ayko, Face Gambla, VF Gang, Hors-la-Loi Music, Altess Music, La Comera, LMC Click, as well as rappers KHF and Ab 2 L'shéfa. The collective's rap themes revolve around neighbourhood life, gangsters and sellers at Clignancourt, with pride in African origins and a hardcore rap style. In 2010 the collective released the mixtape Retour vers le futur, Part. 1 - Ghetto Fab soldats, followed by a second volume. In November 2011 Ghetto Fab launched its own energy drink called G'Z. In October 2014 they released the single Gaz Lacrymogène with Iron Sy and Sinik. The Ghetto Fab Show concert series has been a recurring event. While Shone and KER remain active in rap, Alpha 5.20 and O'Rosko Raricim have officially ended their musical careers, and Malik Bledoss has released nothing new since 2017.
History
Ghetto Fabulous Gang was founded by rapper Alpha 5.20, of Senegalese origin and a resident of Épinay-sur-Seine in Seine-Saint-Denis. The collective brought together rappers O'Rosko Raricim (from the Pierre Collinet neighbourhood in Meaux, Seine-et-Marne), Shone and K.E.R (from the La Forestière neighbourhood in Clichy-sous-Bois, Seine-Saint-Denis) of the group Holocost, and Malik Bledoss (from Les Bosquets in Montfermeil). In 2010, the collective released the mixtape Retour vers le futur, Part. 1 - Ghetto Fab soldats, followed by a second volume. In November 2011, Ghetto Fab launched its own energy drink called G'Z. Following a manufacturing problem, Quoi de neuf 2, the eleventh album by Shone, was released on iTunes. The rapper indicated that the album would be sold physically at the Ghetto Fab stand in Clignancourt in June 2012. On 22 April 2013, the members of the collective took part in the event La Mort du Rap Game. Gradur announced his attendance at the Ghetto Fab Show concert in November 2014. In October 2014, Ghetto Fab released a new single titled Gaz Lacrymogène with Iron Sy and Sinik. In November 2014, Gradur did not attend the Ghetto Fab Show volume 1 because he was in police custody. In January 2016, Shone presented a new track titled Mafia Kainfry, followed by the track Wouh! in April 2016. The collective's themes generally revolve around life in their neighbourhoods, gangsters and sellers at Clignancourt. They are very proud of their African origins and some do not hesitate to wear traditional boubous. In their music videos, large-denomination banknotes and firearms can frequently be seen. Their rap is considered hardcore rap. In addition to music production, Alpha 5.20 set up an audiovisual subsidiary called Ghetto Fabulous Film, specialising in DVD projects, music videos or films. Hors la Loi Music (HLM) is a record label and a subsidiary of Ghetto Fabulous Gang, founded and created in 2008 by Alpha 5.20, with the aim of developing and producing artists. Currently, while Shone and KER of Holocost remain in the rap world, Alpha 5.20 and Orosko Raricim have officially ended their musical careers. Malik Bledoss has released nothing new since 2017.
