Overview

Gilco is a historic brand founded in 1947 when Gilberto Colombo transformed the GC automobile applications department into Gilco Autotelai. The brand is known for its original designs and products, including car and bicycle frames, and continues to offer services and products today.

History

The official birth of the brand dates back to 1947, when Gilberto Colombo transformed the GC automobile applications department (which built car frames in the historic Trafileria A.L. Colombo) into Gilco Autotelai. In the same year, a relationship with Enzo Ferrari began that lasted professionally over a decade. The Gilco historical archive still preserves Gilberto Colombo's original drawings for numerous projects, including those for Ferrari frames that Gilco Autotelai made with special lightweight tubes in micro-alloyed chromium-molybdenum steel. Today, the company founded by Colombo for drawing special tubes, Trafiltubi, produces 25CrMo4 tubes with rigorous quality criteria, and offers consulting and restoration services certifying conformity to original drawings with the Gilco brand.
