Overview

Glenburn Tea Estate is a tea estate located on a hillock above the banks of the River Rungeet in the Himalayas, overlooked by the Kanchenjunga mountain range. It was started by a Scottish tea company in 1859 and later passed into the hands of the Prakash family, one of India's pioneering tea-planting families. The estate offers a 'tea experience' inspired by wine tourism, as well as walking and gastronomy experiences. Visitors can order tea directly via www.glenburnfineteas.com.

History

Glenburn Tea Estate was started by a Scottish tea company in 1859. It later passed into the hands of the Prakash family, one of India's pioneering tea-planting families. The current generation of the Prakash family carries almost a century of tea knowledge. The tea estate experience was inspired by vineyards in Europe and other parts of the world, where visitors observe the wine-making process, taste, and shop. Husna-Tara Prakash decided on her first visit that Glenburn was the spot for such an experience.
