History
The history of Global With us is rooted in two Japanese-language education businesses that were later integrated. The first, I.C.NAGOYA, began in October 1982 when Sony Language Laboratory opened its Nagoya school. Japanese-language education started there in April 1983, and in April 1986 full-time Japanese-language education began, making it the first Ministry of Justice-notified Japanese-language school in the Chubu region. In March 1996, school operations were transferred to NIS Co., Ltd. (株式会社エヌ・アイ・エス) and the school was renamed I.C.NAGOYA. In October 1999, the Ministry of Justice-notified course (full-time general Japanese course) was split into two parts and renamed the "Japanese Language Advancement Course." The school moved from the Mainichi Building to the Dainagoya Building in October 2001, and to the Meieki Nagata Building in April 2012. In October 2012, the "Japanese Language Advancement Course" was renamed the "Comprehensive Japanese Course." In April 2016, the head office location was changed to the Dainagoya Building, and in May 2016 the school joined the Wizus Group (株式会社ウィザスグループ). The second business, Genki Japanese and Culture School, was established in August 2004. In December 2007, Genki Global Co., Ltd. (株式会社Genki Global) was founded. In October 2009, the school was accredited by IALC (International Association of Language Centres). A Tokyo campus opened in May 2013, and the Fukuoka campus moved to its current location in Hakata-ku, Hakata-eki Higashi in May 2015. In September 2016, at the Study Travel Magazine Star Awards ceremony, the school won the Grand Prize in the multilingual category, the first time for a Japanese-language school. In October 2016, the Fukuoka campus opened a general Japanese (one-year) course as a Ministry of Justice-certified school. In September 2018, it won the multilingual category Grand Prize for a second time, and in July 2019 a Kyoto campus opened. In September 2019, it won the multilingual category Grand Prize for a third time. In April 2021, NIS Co., Ltd. and Genki Global Co., Ltd. integrated their management and established Global With us Co., Ltd. (株式会社グローバルウィザス). The new company operates as a subsidiary of Wizus Co., Ltd. and continues to run the I.C.NAGOYA and GenkiJACS school brands, along with human-resource services supporting the hiring, employment, and daily life of foreign workers in Japan.
