Golden Pharos Berhad

Golden Pharos Berhad (GPB) is a public listed company on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia and a Terengganu state Government Link Corporation, held 68.944% via the State's investment arms Terengganu Incorporated Sdn Bhd (60.795%) and Lembaga Tabung Amanah Warisan Negeri Terengganu (8.149%). Its principal activities cover forest concession management, harvesting and distribution, sawmilling and value-added processing of wood-based products, and manufacturing and sales of architectural panel glass. It describes itself as a Shariah-Compliant company and states a vision to become a premier natural resources organisation. Its registered office is at Level 8, PMINT Tower, Jalan Sultan Ismail, 20200 Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu Darul Iman.

In 1980 GPB took over the manufacturing of timber doors from Golden Pharos Wood Industries Sdn. Bhd. In May 1992 a tempered glass plant was set up at the Telok Panglima Garang Industrial Site, producing 20,000 square metres of tempered glass per month, and in November of that year the second phase of glass production was implemented to supply architectural glass and shower screens for domestic buildings and the construction industry. In March 1996 GPB became a fully integrated timber corporation with the acquisition of Permint Timber Corporation Sdn. Bhd. In 2008 its timber management subsidiary Kumpulan Pengurusan Kayu Kayan Trengganu Sdn. Bhd. was awarded the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) endorsed certification.
