GoStudent began in 2015 as a WhatsApp homework chat started by Felix Ohswald, who was then completing a master's in Quantitative Finance at ETH Zurich, after his younger brother Moritz began referring classmates to him for help with math homework. Together with his friend Gregor Müller, the idea developed into an app specifically for homework help, and GoStudent was founded in 2016, with the app launching that summer. Today GoStudent describes itself as a venture-capital-funded EdTech unicorn and an online tutoring provider. It has expanded its offering through the acquisition of the AI-driven learning resource platform Seneca Learning and the open tutoring marketplace Tus Media, as well as the offline tutoring provider Studienkreis. Its platform offers online one-to-one lessons with an interactive whiteboard, quizzes and AI summaries, in-person tutoring in learning centers, and GoClass, a virtual classroom designed for personalized online teaching.

He turned to his friend Gregor Müller, co-founder and COO of GoStudent, and they decided to develop an app specifically for homework help. The idea was to connect users with inspiring, motivated tutors offering high-quality, personalized support. GoStudent was founded in 2016, and the app launched that summer. Today GoStudent describes itself as a venture-capital-funded EdTech unicorn focused on innovation, using technology to rethink education and shape the future of hybrid learning. At its core GoStudent is an online tutoring provider, but it has expanded its offering over the past two years through the acquisition of the AI-driven learning resource platform Seneca Learning and the open tutoring marketplace Tus Media, as well as the offline tutoring provider Studienkreis.
