History
GPR TV was established as part of the Indonesian government's public communication efforts. Its predecessor, the Department of Information (Deppen), had controlled TVRI from 1975 until 1999, when Deppen was dissolved and TVRI management was transferred to the Ministry of Finance. GPR TV itself officially began broadcasting on 10 December 2018 via the Ninmedia satellite television service, based on Presidential Instruction No. 9 of 2015 on Public Communication Management. It is managed by the Subdirectorate of Audio Visual and Social Media Management (AVMS) under the Directorate General of Public Information and Communication (Ditjen IKP) of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (now Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs). The station aims to disseminate government information to all Indonesians, particularly those in the 3T regions (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost) who rely on satellite dishes or satellite TV. GPR TV provides a variety of programs including entertainment, sports, cultural information, talk shows, and news, with Kominfo Newsroom being one of its flagship programs.
