Overview
GrainSense offers an innovative grain analysis solution featuring its patented Near-Infrared (NIR) sensor, which transforms traditional bulky NIR spectroscopy equipment into a compact, affordable format. The solution is tailored for industrial, trading, research, and farming customers, providing instant grain quality analysis. GrainSense technology measures protein, moisture, oil, and carbohydrate contents from just a few kernels or flowing grain without stopping the grain flow, applicable during harvesting, processing, or storage. The company was established in 2014 as a spin-off from VTT (Technical Research Centre of Finland) and began operations in 2016. GrainSense has over 2500 customers in more than 48 countries.
History
In the early years of the 2010s, the VTT (Technical Research Centre of Finland) initiated a project aimed at transforming traditional, bulky Near-Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy lab equipment into a convenient handheld format. The project's key innovation involved using an integrating sphere combined with absorbance spectroscopy and developing a low-noise, low-power consumption NIR photo detector suitable for ambient temperatures. By the end of 2014, GrainSense was established as a spin-off from VTT. In 2016, GrainSense began its operations and has since successfully conducted business.
