Overview

Grand Jump Premium (グランドジャンプPREMIUM, GJP) was a Japanese bimonthly seinen manga magazine published by Shueisha. It was launched on December 21, 2011, as a sister publication and special issue of Grand Jump, itself created as a successor to the discontinued Business Jump and Super Jump. The founding editor-in-chief was Taizo Nakamura, who had previously served as editor-in-chief of Super Jump. Initially a monthly magazine, it shifted to a bimonthly schedule (even-numbered months, fourth Wednesday) from the July 2014 issue onward. The magazine ceased publication with its November 2018 issue, released on October 31, 2018, and was renewed as Grand Jump Mucha, which launched on December 26, 2018. Its serialized works were transferred to Grand Jump Mucha and Grand Jump Mecha. The magazine was known for carrying over some series from the discontinued Jump Kai and for its seinen manga lineup.

History

Grand Jump Premium was established on December 21, 2011, as a special issue of Grand Jump, which itself had been created as a successor to Business Jump and Super Jump. The founding editor-in-chief was Taizo Nakamura, former editor-in-chief of Super Jump. The magazine was initially monthly, with issues released around the 22nd of each month. From the September 2012 issue (VOL.10), it moved to a fourth-Wednesday release schedule. In 2014, the magazine underwent a renewal: after a two-issue hiatus, it returned on April 23, 2014 (the April 30, 2014 special issue) with a new format, dropping the continuous volume numbering in favor of month-based issue labels (e.g., May 2014 issue) and switching from wireless binding to flat binding. From the June 25, 2014 issue (July 2014 issue) onward, it became a bimonthly publication released on the fourth Wednesday of even-numbered months. It also served as a new home for some series from the discontinued Jump Kai. The magazine continued until its November 2018 issue, released on October 31, 2018, when it ceased publication. It was renewed as Grand Jump Mucha, which launched on December 26, 2018, and its serialized works were transferred to Grand Jump Mucha and Grand Jump Mecha.
