History

Great Power was founded in 2001. In 2002, Zhuhai Great Power was established and a national-level postdoctoral scientific research workstation was set up. The company launched its first energy storage product in 2011, marking its early entry into the energy storage field. In 2013, Henan Great Power was established. In 2015, the company went public and acquired Japan's NEXCELL. In 2018, it built the Jiangsu industrial park and acquired Foshan Shida. In 2019, it implemented a strategy focused on energy storage and established the Liuzhou industrial park. In 2022, the Quzhou industrial park was built. In 2023, the Qingdao industrial park and Vietnam industrial park were established. By 2025, the company achieved production capacity of over 100 GWh, positioning itself as a preferred battery supplier in the global energy storage market. On the technology front, in 2001 its 1800mAh nickel-metal hydride battery was appraised as reaching "international advanced level." In 2003, it obtained invention patents for lithium polymer batteries and soft-shell lithium-ion batteries and their manufacturing methods. In 2004, it was among the first to successfully develop lithium iron disulfide (Li-FeS2) batteries, filling a domestic gap and winning a "Small and Medium Enterprise Innovation Award." In 2006, its polymer battery and manufacturing method won a gold award at the 16th National Invention Exhibition. In 2009, it participated in drafting industry standards for lithium iron phosphate and lithium manganese oxide battery modules. In 2011, it launched 10/20Ah lithium iron phosphate energy storage batteries. In 2018, it achieved mass production of ternary high-nickel water-based material systems. In 2019, it launched 6C fast-charging power batteries. In 2021, it developed a material recycling ecological chain. In 2022, its sodium-ion battery technology platform matured and full-tab long-life large cylindrical batteries entered mass production. In 2023, it introduced gel flame-retardant electrolyte technology. In 2024, it launched the large cylindrical HOME series. In 2025, it released the Qingtian 520 energy storage cabinet.
