GREATS describes itself as the first sneaker brand born in Brooklyn, founded in 2014. GREATS states it was founded in 2014 and is the first sneaker brand born in Brooklyn. A separate page recounts that in 2007 Ryan and Jon discussed an early idea for GREATS but did not act on it; in late 2012 they revisited the idea of building a vertical men's footwear brand selling high-quality product direct to consumers at a value price.
