GRITEC

GRITEC is a German industrial company and brand specialising in the development, production and distribution of technical buildings — factory-finished room cells made of reinforced concrete and stainless steel — for public and industrial infrastructure. Its product spectrum ranges from small, non-accessible transformer substations to large, accessible buildings assembled from several individual modules in various application-related finishing stages. The company also manufactures standardised and customised doors and ventilation elements in its own metal production facility, and offers an all-round service from planning through to the tested, ready-to-connect station, as well as refurbishment of existing stations. The brand GRITEC was introduced in 2020 for high-quality, fully type-tested stations made of stainless steel. In 2024 the long-established Betonbau BBD GmbH was renamed GRITEC GmbH, completing a brand relaunch that aligned the company's identity with its GRITEC product line. The GRITEC Group today operates seven production sites and employs more than 1,300 people, with over 10,000 projects delivered and more than 60 years of experience in the field. GRITEC serves the energy transition and the expansion of supply infrastructure. Its stations, elements and services are used for switchgear houses, transformer stations, compact substations, shaft structures, signalling and traffic control technology, and completely ready-to-connect technical buildings. The company has expanded internationally, including a production site in Prague, Czech Republic, and has diversified into charging infrastructure for electrically powered buses, trucks, cars and commercial vehicles through its subsidiary e4you. In 2025 the Viessmann Generations Group acquired a majority stake in GRITEC TopCo GmbH, bringing the company into a larger industrial group and supporting further growth. GRITEC describes itself as a leading manufacturer of technical buildings for supply technology, emphasising meticulous planning, testing and quality and safety in its operations.

The history of GRITEC is rooted in the German concrete construction company Betonbau, which has over 60 years of experience in the development and production of technical buildings for supply technology. The company pioneered the trend towards prefabricated stations, which by 1990 had arrived on the mass market and become the standard. In 1993 Betonbau founded a subsidiary in Prague, marking an early international expansion. In 2000 concrete construction became a key enabler for the energy transition, and in 2003 the company's TAM3 doors received the International Forum iF Design Award. A new concrete construction plant in Kösching was put into operation in 2008, replacing the old Ingolstadt site. In 2010 the company developed many additional customer groups in Germany and abroad and expanded its service and consulting area. A thermal test field was commissioned in Waghäusel in 2012. In 2015 the company introduced an environmental management system and certified according to ISO 14001. In 2018 the subsidiary e4you GmbH & Co. KG was founded with a focus on developing and building high-quality charging infrastructure solutions for electrically powered commercial vehicles in the public transport sector and fleet operators; in the same year the company delivered its 200,000th space cell. In 2020 the new brand GRITEC was introduced for high-quality, fully type-tested stations made of stainless steel. In 2022 the company introduced an occupational health and safety management system and certified according to ISO 45001. In 2023 Betonbau operated as Betonbau BBD GmbH, and e4you GmbH & Co. KG continued as e4you. In 2024, as of February 29, Betonbau BBD GmbH was renamed GRITEC GmbH, completing a brand relaunch. In 2025 the company introduced an energy management system and certified according to ISO 50001, and the Viessmann Generations Group acquired a majority stake in GRITEC TopCo GmbH. In 2026 the GRITEC Group expanded its capacity in Europe by opening its seventh production site in Prague's Letňany district.
